Archipelago life

Just outside Nyköping is one of the wildest archipelagos of the Swedish east coast. At Stendörren Nature Reserve, you can reach the archipelago without a boat. Take a walk on the suspension bridges out tothe islands and the open sea!

There are wide fan of uninhabited islands to explore, enjoy and dream yourself back to. Soak up the rays on sun-warmed rocks, bathe in sheltered natural harbours and just unwind. Visit one of our archipelago restaurants to sample the fruits of the sea, or
rent a croft along the coastline and treat yourself to a longer stay.

Stendörren nature reserve

There are picnic areas, a Naturum, hiking trails, fire pits, telephone, lavatories and a special path for wheelchair users and prams. Stendörrenis intended for a one-day visit.

To get to Stendörren

Route 219, 30 km. Bus 554 from Nyköping towards Studsvik, walk approx. 3 km to the first parking area, where a trail leads to the reserve.

Nävekvarn

Nävekvarn is approximately 25 km from Nyköping. During the summer there is swimming from the rocks and sandy beach, camping, a marina, a fish-market, a cafe and B & Bs. Nävsjön - a paradise for anglers, fishermen, hikers and nature lovers. In the winter, Nävsjön is also appreciated by skaters, cross-country skiers and ice anglers. 

Around Nävekvarn there is the village ofKoppartorp with Tunaberg’s wooden church from the 17th century, the mining museum and Sörmlandsleden.

Oxelösund

In the neighbouring town of Oxelösund 15 km away you will find the
island of Femöre with swimming from the rocks, the Skärgårdsvåfflan café and Femörefortet (museum), the adventure house Boda Borg, Gamla Oxelösund with the Skärgårdsmuseum and Culture trail and Jogersöbadet with a great beach and diving tower. www.visitoxelosund.se
